Yet another ICT policy process, but this time the industry has voiced cautious optimism in the wake of the much-anticipated Colloquium on ICT policy. But time and the DoC’s track record are not on its side.

Is South Africa’s ICT industry inching closer towards a cohesive national ICT policy? The Department of Communications (DoC) thinks so. April’s National ICT Policy Colloquium was the first concrete step in some time, after years of ministerial changes and abortive attempts to kick-start the process.
Observers aren’t quite so positive, as concrete signs of progress will be required to convince a jaded industry that things are actually happening.
