South Africa now ranks as the eighth most cyber attacked country in the world, according to Alexander Lee, EMEA channel sales director, VMware Carbon Black. Speaking at a recent Brainstorm roundtable, he said that of those firms that were struck by cyber attacks, 89% had their data encrypted, compared to a global average of 76%, according to its research.

Lee maintains that security vendors have cultivated a false sense of comfort among their customers.
