People’s initial opinions of open source software were less than complimentary for the most part. It met with a lot of criticism and misunderstanding at first. I remember one of the first people I explained the philosophy to actually laughing at it.

Things have been much the same for Bitcoin – the world’s first ‘peer-to-peer currency’. But in February this year, Bitcoin gained parity with the US dollar. Five months later, it was worth nine times more. Now it’s up to 17 times. And that’s no laughing matter.
