The partnership between Fujitsu Services, UniNet Communications, Cisco, Microsoft and the Mangaung Local Municipality (MLM, previously Bloemfontein) should see MLM being able to deliver improved service to citizens through the establishment of a call centre in the municipality. The initiative should also see the parties making inroads toward making South Africa a major player in the business process outsourcing and off-shoring (BPO&O) space.

The call centre will be part of a BPO&O hub to be established in MLM. The project is based on a Department of Trade and Industry initiative, which aims to create a communication channel between the municipality and citizens, improve service delivery and, eventually, attract offshore call centre business to South Africa.
