Motorola has completed a $4 billion acquisition and won a number of big contracts, including an African coup.

Motorola has stepped into 2007 with a bang, lining up a string of massive contracts in the African, Middle Eastern and Asian markets.

Early this year it also completed its acquisition of enterprise mobility company Symbol Technologies, which manufactures and supplies mobile data capture and delivery equipment. The transaction, says Motorola, has a total equity value of approximately $3.9 billion. Symbol now becomes a part of Motorola Networks & Enterprise, a business division that reports annual revenues of $13 billion.

“The new Motorola enterprise mobility business will establish itself as a global leader in providing real-time technology solutions for customers, both inside and outside the four walls of their enterprise,” says Greg Brown, president of Motorola Networks & Enterprise.
