Although Johannesburg is the glamour capital for outsourcing in the call centre industry, Cape Town has been chosen as the new home for Amazon.com’s South African software development centre

The Amazon Development Centre in Cape Town is only the third centre outside of the United States and will be run by a returning local who has spent the last five years working for Amazon in California. Its focus is developing web services to help software developers build innovative applications using Amazon technology, says managing director Chris Pinkham.
