There was a time when anyone involved in tech used to joke about the rapid obsolescence of new ideas. A PC that was bang up to date today would be ready for replacement a month later, unable to handle the latest version of some piece of software that was considered essential.
In gaming, people would spend $300 to $500 a year on the latest graphics cards for their PC, because 12 months in game development meant new titles that would bring an ancient machine to its knees. Those days are behind us.
