The personal data conundrum
Most people don't trust organisations to take care of their personal data, but they keep sharing it anyway.
02 August 2016
A study recently commissioned by F5 Networks across the EMEA region has revealed that organisations’ protection of individuals’ personal data is a key concern for most consumers. Sharing data with private companies left nearly 70% of consumers concerned that their data would fall into the wrong hands. In addition, 64% feared that their privacy might be compromised.
Of the different types of organisations featured in the survey, social media brands and marketing companies fared the worst, with many consumers saying they don’t trust them with their personal data at all, and only 21% believing they would protect them effectively from hackers.
