In the hot seat
Broad-based black economic empowerment is being questioned and the Black IT Forum (BITF) once again finds itself in the spotlight.
01 January 2009
The State IT Agency (Sita) is failing dismally to come clean about why it isn't meeting its mandates. Although the BITF has not seen much publicity lately, the issue of a muddled Sita has brought it to the fore once again. Members of the BITF are now asking why they should continue to support the organisation if it won't intervene.
In its defence, the BITF says it's doing what it can to ensure Sita lends an ear to industry concerns, but seemingly it's not enough. Brainstorm puts Ma-Setlogelo Masote, former general manager of the BITF, in the hot seat to answer a few questions on what the BITF's mandate is and why it seems industry is not fulfilled by its efforts.
