Globally, for example, there has been a significant increase in cyberattacks since the onset of the pandemic. Africa – and South Africa – are particularly vulnerable to these threats and attacks. The most common type of attacks the continent faces are online email or text phishing scams, digital extortion, business email compromise, ransomware, and botnets.
