The latest drama came when Minerals and Energy Minister Buyelwa Sonjica admitted to The Daily Dispatch newspaper in early September that the community consultation process into the titanium mining project at Xolobeni on the Wild Coast was “flawed”. Her comment came after a meeting at Xolobeni where Ama- Mpondo king Mpondomini Sigcau threw his weight behind attempts to stop the mining.
