Could we be entering the era of the 'cyber sangoma'?

As black South Africans live more modernised lives, the age-old practice of consulting a Sangoma when things are not going well is slowly losing its popularity. As people earn more money and have access to medical aid, they’re opting for more Westernised methods of physical and spiritual healing. In keeping with the ever-changing times and an era of information, much like most forms of Western healing systems, electronic consultation is fast becoming popular due to its convenience and assumed confidentiality. But, is this also the case with spiritual healing?

Makhosi Amanda Gcabashe, a Sangoma who has started a website in an effort to get people talking about their heritage and the merits of spiritual healing, says there is a need for positive information about iZangoma and Iinyanga.
