According to Gartner, the successful implementation of a procurement transaction system is dependent on software (purchase order, requisition and payment applications) and services (supplier ‘onboarding’, content management and connectivity management). Where these two components would have been obtained from the same vendor in the past, the transaction management functionality is migrating back to the ERP systems while the supplier network management is outsourced to specialist service providers.
