After 15 years at the helm of the cellular operator, Vodacom`s group CEO retires to pursue his hobbies and perhaps a role at telecoms regulator Icasa.

The investor community gave Vodacom group CEO Alan Knott-Craig a standing ovation last month at the company's presentation of its annual results. Although the financials were excellent, it was the recognition of the role that Knott-Craig has played over the last 15 years that brought the analysts to their feet.
