Good green printing

IT's drive towards a greener future is being undermined by printers made of low-quality materials that use high levels of energy and don't last.

This is according to Stephen Bell, the digital document systems product manager at Océ South Africa. Bell argues that there are products that can print 60 pages per minute with a guaranteed lifespan of five years or 20,000,000 prints. These are made of superior materials, cost less to install and run and last longer.

Bell said many of the big-name manufacturers still employed xerography as the primary means of printing on paper.
