“Today, most organisations have a widely dispersed IT environment, with numerous devices and locations that need to be protected,” explains Jason Oehley, Regional Sales Manager for Arctic Wolf. “It is much easier for attackers to operate in a dispersed environment, environments are still not properly patched or implemented, and attacks are becoming ever more sophisticated.”

Cloud security can be the biggest stumbling block for an organisation. The nature of cloud, and the increase in its use and adoption, means that for most organisations, their attack surface and perimeter, and therefore risk exposure, has drastically expanded. “In many ways it was easier to have everything protected by a firewall. By contrast, securing cloud is a lot more complex,” Oehley explains.
