South Africa’s power supply is still precarious. How can businesses mitigate this risk?

It’s been seven years since the power grid nearly came to a complete halt due to decay and lack of maintenance, and Eskom has been hard at work since. Power supply is still precarious though, and Eskom has indicated it will remain so during the summer months when it does its essential maintenance. New power stations are expected to come online in the latter half of 2014, but even so, demand keeps increasing. What can business do to mitigate their risk?

Organisations can utilise generator power, but the increasing price of diesel makes this an expensive solution. Companies need to embrace the principle of datacentre colocation where datacentre capacity and management are handed over to a trusted partner.
