Every year towards the end of November, tens of thousands make their way to Las Vegas for AWS’ Re:Invent, the biggest cloud conference of the year. It’s been running for 11 years, and has grown into a massive, multiday meet-up that sprawls over the whole of the Venetian conference centre on The Strip. It attracts all sorts of people, and aside from the press and analysts, there are customers and thousands upon thousands of earnest developers who have come to learn about the latest AWS services, and earn certifications in its technologies. Everyone throngs the halls and corridors of the casino, and it’s not uncommon to walk a half marathon or so every day. It’s also a good place to get an overview of the thriving AWS ecosystem. There’s now so much you can do with the cloud, and the company emits a seemingly neverending supply of services for customers, covering all manner of things in the broad areas of compute and storage, analytics, networking, IoT, security, and developer tools, to name just a few. AWS is also focused on making the developer’s job easier, and every year, there are more tools that add more functionality or simplify a process. There are also a whole lot of other companies doing very specific things and that partner, and compete, with AWS.

Here’s a summary of the most important announcements from re:Invent 2022, as presented by CEO Adam Selipsky.
