Business unusual as WEF tackles climate change
The World Economic Forum (WEF) held annually in the Swiss ski resort of Davos is characterised by high-profi le events starring global leaders, corridor whispering and deal making, backroom consensus building and late-night parties.

At the 2007 WEF, climate change was a major theme.
In debates about the contribution of big business to climate change and the risks and opportunities associated with runaway global warming, there was a genuine focus on finding mechanisms for dealing with climate change and its impacts. Notably absent from this debate, however, was an understanding of how global warming impacts on issues facing developing countries, be it poverty reduction or the need for industrialisation in order to grow sustainable economies. Despite this, there were breakthroughs in formerly contentious areas.
