I am an artist from Alexandra, and my work draws inspiration from everyday life, childhood memories, travel, interesting landscapes, race, gender, and historical events. I am currently studying Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the Market Photo Workshop. I chose this course to diversify my storytelling skills. After spending more than 20 years in the entertainment industry, acting, writing scripts, and producing television and radio dramas, I felt the need to explore a different way of telling stories. Photography became the answer to that quest. Before joining the Market Photo Workshop, I worked as a scriptwriter at Ukhozi FM, part of the SABC. I previously obtained my Senior Certificate from United Sisterhood Mitzvah School and studied Dramatic Arts at the Market Theatre Laboratory for two years. My creative journey began when I started writing poetry in high school as a way of coping with life`s challenges. Unable to afford university, I chose to study drama at the Market Theatre Laboratory because it was accessible. There, I developed my skills in mime, movement, scriptwriting, storytelling, and directing. Today, I am passionately exploring documentary photography as both a creative art form and a means of raising awareness about important social and environmental issues. Through my work, I tell stories with intention and empathy, documenting the history of Alexandra, its significant places, historical events, and everyday life.
