I use photography as a vessel to position myself and create connections between politics, society, landscape, and history. I was first introduced to photography in high school through the Of Soul and Joy Project, initiated by Rubis Mécénat, and later furthered my studies at the Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg, graduating in 2016. In 2017, I was awarded the Tierney Fellowship. As an independent photographer, I received the Prince Claus Fund Award Grant in 2018 for my project Between Spaces. My work has been exhibited at numerous institutions and festivals, including Ithuba Art Gallery in Johannesburg, the Market Photo Workshop, the Ghent Photo Festival in Belgium, Galerie MAGNIN-A, the Turbine Art Fair, Paris Art Fair, the Johannesburg Art Gallery, Cité des Arts, Warren Editions in Cape Town, the Art Africa Fair, and Addis Foto Fest in Ethiopia. In 2021, I became one of the founding members of the Umhlabathi Collective. In 2024, I received the Louis Roederer Discovery Award – Public Prize, as well as the Prix de la Photo Madame Figaro Arles for my project Ho Tshepa Ntshepedi Ya Bontshepe.
