There is a theory floating around the darker corners of Reddit called the Dead Internet Theory, which has it that the vast majority of the internet is no longer human. Instead, it suggests we are surfing a graveyard where bots create content for other bots to consume, while the rest of us doomscroll past the debris, desperately looking for a pulse.

If you’ve opened Facebook, LinkedIn or X lately, you’ll know what I mean. That glossy, slightly plastic "LinkedIn bro" voice? That’s the sound of the Dead Internet. It’s polished, perfectly syntaxed, em-dashed to within an inch of its unlife, and completely soulless.
