Job Crystal was founded in 2009 by technologists Karl Westvig and Kevin Laithwaite. Their goal was to create an online job-matching platform that would improve the recruiting process, but, instead, it ended up as a recruitment agency, a model in which they had little interest. The company was acquired by two employees in 2015 – Sasha Knott, the current CEO, and Kelly Louw, current COO – who have spent the past 14 years working on the company’s business processes.
