Both Google and Meta have dodged what seemed like certain sanction in US antitrust cases recently, and we can only look on, aghast, as the judgments arrive not with the anticipated bang or even a whimper, but the sound of a clown’s horn and rattle.
Facebook won its antitrust case despite a damning trove of emails from Mark Zuckerberg that spelled out exactly how and why the acquisition of WhatsApp and Instagram were explicitly done to crush competition and should, therefore, have been illegal.
