A proponent of block chain technology, Jansen van Rensburg says that it speeds up trust and provides for far quicker service at a bank, for example, or revolutionises the way emergency health care can be administered. “Blockchain collects the whole history of the individual, but there is so much red tape around its use, thanks to PoPI and data privacy legislation, that it’s going to take five, possibly 10 years for it to shine. It will be difficult to move into 4IR without blockchain.
