Technology leaders met in Johannesburg recently to ponder the question: What does AI mean for women in the workplace?

What AI biases are emerging? Brainstorm and Cisco convened a group of women working in technology to discuss the issue. Leading the discussion, Nomonde White, CIO, Group Compliance, Absa, said AI is no longer a distant idea. “It’s here, it’s active and it’s already shaping how decisions are made, how organisations operate, and how society evolves.

“AI is no longer sitting at the edge of an organisation, it’s moving into the core, into decisioning, risk models, fraud detection, customer experience and into compliance frameworks. It’s becoming the operating system of the modern enterprise.” She added that the systems that are getting built today, “will define what we make tomorrow, and the world that our children will know.
