Security expert Celia Mantshiyane approaches IT with a delightfully down-to-earth attitude. It’s a field where there’s no time to be ignorant and no room for people who fear the unknown, she says. As the Group CISO of FirstRand Bank, she encourages her team to continually improve their knowledge by engaging with their peers, attending national and international conferences, and conducting their own research to find out what gaps their organisation has and how to close them by using the appropriate technologies.
Her IT decisions and strategies, her style of leadership, and her efforts to promote other women in the field have all contributed to Mantshiyane being named the CISO of the Year in the Wired4Women Awards 2026.
