Zethu Lubisi

After 11 years of short-term contracts, retrenchment and uncertainty, Zethu Lubisi finally secured a permanent position at North-West University as an academic developer. For more than a decade, she had lived with uncertainty. When she moved to Johannesburg to join Wits University, her experience in education and IT came in handy. There, she found her footing as a bridge-builder who understands both academics and technology, and the languages in between.

Today, Lubisi serves as planning and governance manager in the ICT department of Wits. “It’s a technical and strategic role,” she says. Planning and governance, in her words, is about translating technical challenges into actionable ideas. Her strength comes from technical knowledge and lived experience between worlds.
