Not that long ago, the notion of connecting brains to computers seemed like radical science fiction. But this field has started to make large strides. Technology is restoring movement and speech abilities to people who cannot move or speak. Soon, it may return sight to the blind.

In the US, a man who can only move his eyes has started to speak again with the help of AI. In China, a woman is able to transmit her thoughts to a computer screen, communicating with people for the first time in years.
