The API in the machine

How can the business remain secure when the perimeter is dispersed, and attacks are automated?

Tsepo Thamae, Eskom

Every business runs on APIs, which connect applications, partners, customers and systems and have become the busiest pathways into organisations. But many companies have more doors than they realise and they don’t know where many of them are. According to Radware’s research from 2026, nearly half of companies (48%) update their APIs daily, yet only 19% keep an automated and continuously updated inventory. Meanwhile, only 24% test their APIs across the full lifecycle. If you ask a team how many APIs they run, its best answer will be an approximation, and this lack of visibility is exposure that’s not being managed.
