New SITA MD to drive reform agenda
The government IT agency is seeking to return relevance, as parts of the public sector consider procurement alternatives, and implementing measures to beat corruption.
05 June 2026
The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) has rolled out a series of measures aimed at tackling corruption and reinforcing its relevance, as some government departments increasingly consider bypassing the agency to source their own ICT solutions. That’s according to Magatho Mello, MD of SITA. Mello was appointed in the role in December 2025, officially taking up the position on 1 April 2026.
His appointment makes him the agency’s 26th MD, and coincides with the appointment of a full complement of new board members.
