Into Africa
Industry veteran Oliver Fortuin took over the helm of the local IBM organisation in July 2009. His mandate is big – almost a whole continent big.
01 February 2011
Oliver Fortuin has been at IBM for a while. Some 15 years, all told. He wandered off to HP for a bit in 2006, serving as MD of HP South Africa and GM of its Technology Solutions Group (TSG), but returned to IBM in 2009.
Currently general manager, IBM Sub-Saharan Africa Growth Market Region, which is something of a mouthful, Fortuin is responsible for managing 48 African countries. In other words – his job is making sure IBM takes over the continent.
