Twelve years ago, Google wowed the world with Google Glass, a pair of smart glasses that could record video and converse with a digital assistant. It was a flop, due to privacy concerns and the high price. Smart glasses would have to wait more than a decade to find relevance again. Now they are on the verge of becoming mainstream, thanks to several startups and incumbents creating frames with speakers, cameras, displays and, of course, AI. Who could shape a market that could be worth $14tn, according to Grand View Research, by 2033? Here are some of the prime contenders.
