Everyone’s in the cloud. Not everyone’s secure
What does it take to secure a cloud estate that is growing faster than anyone can govern?
16 April 2026
Cloud has become the foundation of modern business, but keeping it secure is harder than it looks. The threat landscape has changed dramatically, and fast. According to SentinelOne’s ‘Cloud Security Risk Report 2025’, cloud security now intersects with almost every other cybersecurity function. Identity, data protection, application security and insider threat detection all converge in the cloud, and attacks move fluidly across all of these layers. Cloud security is, in other words, everyone’s problem.
But how organisations actually use the cloud has changed just as much as how it is attacked. Georges Farah, expert in Cloud Workload Security in the Meta region at Kaspersky, says early cloud adoption was mostly about lifting existing systems into Infrastructure-as-a-Service environments. Today, it is multicloud, Platform-as-a-Service and cloud-native, with containers, microservices and open source everywhere.
