This is the third in a series of conversations about women working with AI convened by Cisco and Brainstorm. The first, in March, explored the delegates’ state of AI readiness, then, in June, participants considered pillars necessary for AI adoption. In the final gathering in August, women in technology considered the challenges of building AI-ready organisations.

Nomonde White, CIO, Group compliance, Absa, and Wired4Women chairperson, was the Brainstorm moderator for the session, and said the question was no longer about what AI can do, but more about what happens when AI begins to act autonomously. “When an agent can initiate a process, interact with another system, access information, execute a workflow and make a recommendation, or, potentially take decisions at a speed faster than any human being, that change is extraordinary,” she said.
