The cloud model is now a mature one, with the focus on optimisation and extracting business value. Chris Richardson, executive: cloud go-to-market at Altron Digital Business, says this represents a shift from “cloud-first”, to “cloud-smart” thinking. And, critically, why?”

According to PwC’s ‘2025 Africa Cloud Business Survey’, 98% of organisations in Africa plan to adjust and expand their cloud architecture and coverage, prompted by the need for greater scale, flexibility and risk management. The report also shows that cloud adoption across Africa is maturing, with the majority of firms moving beyond rollout into optimisation and broader use cases.
