Cloud is now the de facto operating model for most of the world’s enterprises, and this is borne out by the numbers. Global end-user spending on public cloud services will reach around $723.4bn by the end of 2025, up from $595.7bn the year before, according to Gartner. Sid Nag, VP analyst at the firm, believes use-cases are also proliferating, and that distributed, hybrid, cloud-native, and multicloud environments are being supported by a cross-cloud framework. Meanwhile, technology decision-makers in the Western Cape still have concerns around sovereignty and cost-optimisation.

Neo Mongwaketse, IT service delivery manager, TFG, says he used to work in banking and his group is now moving into other regions in Africa. “When we move to the cloud, what options are out there?”
