Building capability from the inside

Dimakatso Masiteng is helping build systems that replace paperwork with real-time visibility.

Dimakatso Masiteng

For Dimakatso Masiteng, CIO at the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), digital transformation in the public sector has meant helping reshape how the entire agency operates. Building on early digitisation efforts, she has helped move the NYDA further away from paper-based processes toward digital workflows, resulting in real-time visibility, and services that can reach young people wherever they are.

Founded in 2008, the NYDA is mandated to initiate, design, coordinate, and monitor youth development programmes. It supports people aged 18 to 35 through entrepreneurial grants, business skills training, and mentorship. Each year, the agency awards grants to around 2 500 beneficiaries and trains approximately 14 000 young people in programmes such as business management, self-development, interpersonal skills, and job readiness. Its annual budget includes roughly R30mn for grants and R9mn for training programmes.
