Betting on stablecoins

This startup allows customers to accept payments and deposits in crypto and stablecoins with its Ezeebit API.

01 September 2026

Brothers in arms: (L-R) Jonathan, David, and Daniel Katz, the founders of Ezeebit.

Demand for an easier way to move money in and out of Africa has seen stablecoin usage explode on the continent, with $54bn in transactions completed in 2025 alone. That’s according to Yellow Card, which handles stablecoin payments.

To ensure stablecoin growth doesn’t flag, all the right moving parts need to be in place – from wallet providers to coin issuers, exchanges and cards, says Ezeebit co-founder and CEO Daniel Katz. The Cape Town-based startup allows ecommerce sites, retailers and investment companies to accept payments and deposits in crypto and stablecoins with its Ezeebit API, or using a Shopify plugin. Customers include retailers such as Le Creuset, iStore and Spar.
