Organisations want cost-effective technology that allows them to be competitive and agile. The digital workspace is important because it integrates apps, data, and desktops into a single secure interface. Businesses will also need solutions that allow them to simplify their IT operations and balance both on-premises and cloud-based resources. At a roundtable convened by Brainstorm and Citrix, the discussion focused on practical approaches to building secure and cost-effective digital workplaces to meet evolving business needs.

Aubrey Mochela, Group chief technology officer, City of Johannesburg (CoJ), said it’s challenging to create the culture around Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS). “People are used to buying and refreshing laptops, but now everything is online and centralised, and it’s challenging for them.” He said this resistance affected his department’s goal of professionalising the City of Johannesburg.
