Who you calling a hacker?

Someone with a sense of humour decided the standard 404 message wasn't good enough for the Eastern Cape Department of Health, and extemporised: * Sorry but the page you are looking for cannot be found. * The page is on holiday and will be out of the office until next week or when it feels like coming back. * The page was considered redundant and was given a raise, so it now works even less. * The page performed an illegal operation and was promoted to vice-president. * The page was on strike. We are busy negotiating with the unions now for better wages so it can come online. * The page is running late. This could be because the taxis need to collect at least another 404 passengers. * The page is sleeping. After all, this is African time we are talking about.

When Louise Flanagan of IOL, who first noticed the message, asked about it, the department, to its credit, dismissed some scary hacking explanation. These things happen. Fix them, reprimand the website admin and move on. The appearance of self-deprecating humour is great PR.
