Will a drop in interconnect rates mean more competition?

Will it mean lower prices for the consumer? Yes and no. Yes, a lower interconnect rate is good for competition but no, it doesn’t necessarily mean lower call costs for the consumer, at least not straight away. Vodacom’s and MTN’s financial results explain why.
