The statistics around cyber attacks continue to astonish. Globally, companies and individuals are experiencing cyber attacks in the hundreds of millions, with no one immune to threats and a constantly changing cybersecurity landscape. According to Garith Peck, Vodacom Business executive head of cloud security, over 2021 and 2022, the number of attacks doubled and these numbers continue to grow exponentially.

“The challenge is that cybersecurity is so fluid and there is no silver bullet to deal with it,” he says. “Threats and threat actors keep getting more sophisticated. Ransomware has evolved and is not going away and cybercriminals are not selective in who they go after. The global cost of attacks is estimated to be around $8 trillion in 2023 alone.
