Xero, headquartered in New Zealand, has 18 office locations globally and more than 3.95 million subscribers. Its annualised monthly recurring revenue was around R19 billion in 2023 and it is the fourth highest ranking accounting technology in the world, coming in at fourth place behind QuickBooks, Netsuite and IBM Cognos. We talk to Marc Ashton, CEO and founder of Decusatio, and Vuyo Thabethe, accountant at SME.Tax Rosebank, about their Xero integration and the value it brings to their businesses.

“As a small consulting firm with six employees, choosing whether or not to insource or outsource the accounting function was always going to be a challenge,” says Ashton. “You want to keep your financial data to yourself, but, at the same time, there’s a lot of compliance and admin. We looked at the different tools available on the market and it was a choice between Sage or Xero; we felt Xero was easier.”
