Tyme: The little bank that could
How has TymeBank managed to attract so many new customers?
04 October 2020
TymeBank is the great South African banking success story, and had 2 164 635 customers as of the end of August. It’s also a toddler, at about 20 months, but with these customer numbers, and the rate of onboarding, it’s managed to do what the country’s established banks can only dream of.
I can think of a few things that have allowed Tyme to succeed: its harnessing of cloud (as well as not having to build any datacentres), its kiosks and superior CX, the fact the current banking options, until now, have not appealed to those without a bank account, and, lastly, the discipline to stick to its part of the market.
